Iran’s regime cancels nuclear talks with United States

While the mullahs’ regime had recently announced plans for a sixth round of negotiations with the United States on Sunday, June 15, in Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Saturday, June 14, amidst widespread and heavy clashes and attacks on Tel Aviv, Tehran, and other locations in Israel and Iran, Esmail Baghaei, the regime’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, announced: “Sunday’s negotiations in Muscat with the American side have been canceled.”

The state-run Mehr News Agency, while reporting this news on June 14, wrote: “Baghaei said that the United States, despite all its claims about dialogue and diplomacy, has colluded in targeting nuclear facilities. It is obvious that in such circumstances, and as long as the aggressions do not stop, participating in dialogue with a party that is the biggest supporter and accomplice of the aggressor will be meaningless.”

On the same day, Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of Iran’s regime, in a phone call with Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign policy chief, said: “The continuation of indirect negotiations with the United States is unjustifiable.”

The announcement of the cancellation of the regime’s nuclear negotiations with the United States, of which five rounds had previously been held in Muscat and Rome, came after Israeli attacks on Friday led to the deaths of several IRGC commanders. The state-run Chand Sanieh Telegram channel wrote on June 13: “Iran has begun the severe punishment operation by firing hundreds of various types of ballistic missiles towards Israel, and 100 hypersonic missiles were launched.”

Simultaneously, Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran’s regime, in a televised message offering “congratulations and condolences” after the major surprise attack that killed military commanders and the regime’s atomic experts, said: “Our armed forces are ready, and today, similar messages were issued from all various political factions of the country and different segments of the nation. Everyone feels that we must act with power, and action will be taken with power, and we will not appease them. Life will undoubtedly become bitter for them. They should not think that they struck and it is over. No, they started the work and initiated the war. We will not allow them to get away unscathed from this great crime they committed. Certainly, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic will inflict heavy blows on this malicious enemy. The nation should know this and be assured and confident that there will be no shortcomings in this regard.”
