How to deal with the Iranian regime’s threat to global peace and security

Global peace is alarmingly under threat. Some analysts warn that a prolonged war in Gaza could potentially lead to a regional or even global conflict. What’s surprising is the fact that despite political leaders acknowledging the center of warmongering in the Middle East and the world as the religious fascism ruling Iran, they turn a blind eye and pretend not to see.

This “turning a blind eye” has grave consequences and implications. To the extent that the United States and Europe cover up the role of the warmongering godfather of fundamentalism and terrorism, they allow religious fascism to become more emboldened and increase its provocative actions. The most prominent example of this is the attacks on commercial and transit vessels in the Red Sea by proxy forces of this regime.

Intelligence agencies, Western government leaders, their foreign ministries, and diplomats are well aware that the explosive drones and missiles targeting ships are the work of Iran’s regime. However, the policy they have adopted, apart from further bolstering warfare and crisis, has had no other consequences and continues to have none.

Two clear messages to Western governments
In her message to a Conference in Berlin, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said, “I am here today at this conference to convey two messages to Western governments and the European Union. The first message highlights the need to address the crisis and devastating war in the Middle East by targeting the root cause—the religious dictatorship in Iran. Without considering this fundamental issue, a conclusive solution will not emerge.

The second message underscores that 40 years of appeasement of this regime has been the significant factor contributing to war and instability in the region.”

The Iranian Resistance has explicitly said that the only solution to end destructive wars, particularly in Gaza, is to strike the “head of the snake” in Tehran.

The West has made numerous mistakes regarding Iran, and as a result, it has strengthened the mullahs’ regime.

For example, after the Iranian Resistance revealed the regime’s illicit unclear program in 2002, western governments consistently resorted to negotiations and concessions in order to curb the regime’s ambitions to obtain an atomic bomb. Today, we are seeing the destructive results of that policy as the regime inches toward obtaining nuclear weapons.

This policy has led to the strengthening of the Iranian regime instead of containing its nuclear ambitions. As Mrs. Rajavi emphasized, “Three European countries –France, the UK, and Germany– have confirmed that according to IAEA standards, the Iranian regime has three times the amount of 60% enriched uranium needed for a nuclear explosive device. In fact, the regime has never given up its effort to obtain the bomb. Without a decisive policy, the world risks being surprised by the regime’s nuclear project. ”

Foreign war, a cover for domestic crisis

A gross mistake of the West is believing that the outbreak of foreign wars is a result of the power of the Iranian regime. The reality is that resorting to foreign wars is a means to suppress domestic crises. Regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and its president Ebrahim Raisi wage war in the region to prevent the uprising of the Iranian people. In order to suppress the explosive situation within Iran, they have executed more than 230 prisoners since the start of the Middle East war, within a span of two months.

The Iranian regime has acknowledged that the NCRI and People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) is the sole opposition with the power to overthrow it. Therefore, it engages its intelligence services abroad to spy on and spread falsehoods against the resistance. The attack on the NCRI office in Berlin on December 4 is part of these actions that have taken place under the shadow of appeasement policies and turning a blind eye to the regime’s export of terrorism.

At the same time, the regime is conducting show trials in absentia for more than 100 PMOI members to set the stage for more terrorist activities abroad and executions inside Iran.

It is evident that this action, far from being a display of power, stems from desperation and fear. Mrs. Rajavi rightly said, “This show is part of the regime’s reactions to the spread of the network of Resistance Units, escalation of their activities and operations, and added credibility of the Iranian Resistance across Iran and the globe. The mullahs confess that they fear young people’s joining the PMOI.”

The necessity of adopting a firm policy

What the Iranian resistance has repeatedly emphasized is the adoption of a firm policy against the godfather of terrorism and warmongering, and support for the people’s struggle and the resistance in Iran to bring regime change in Iran.

The alternative to this regime is not a movement that is dependent on foreign powers or a form of current religious fascism or the remnants of the overthrown monarchy. It is an alternative that derives its legitimacy from the resistance. The solution lies in a democratic alternative that fights for a free and peaceful Iran without nuclear weapons and advocates for a republic based on the separation of religion and the state and the self-determination of oppressed nationalities and ethnicities. All of these principles are articulated in Maryam Rajavi’s 10-point plan, which enjoys credibility, legitimacy, and global support.

In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi laid out the key components of a firm policy toward Iran’s regime:

First, designating the IRGC as a terrorist organization.

Second, activating the snapback mechanism in Security Council Resolution 2231 and ensuring full implementation Of UN Security Council resolution concerning the regime’s nuclear projects and comprehensive sanctions.

Third, declaring the regime an imminent threat to global peace and security and placing it under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.

Fourth, recognizing the Iranian people’s struggle to overthrow the regime, and the courageous fight of Iranian youth against the terrorist IRGC.
