How Alejo Vidal Quadras foiled the Iranian regime’s plot to intimidate the supporters of the Resistance

After recovering from his wounds, Dr. Alejo Vidal Quadras, former Vice President of the European Parliament, who was targeted by a terrorist attack orchestrated by the Iranian regime in Madrid last November, pledged to continue his fight against the Iranian regime with greater motivation, more energy, stronger determination, and a higher level of commitment than ever before. His activities over the past week serve as a testament to his resilience and resolve.

On March 1, Dr. Vidal Quadras participated in a conference titled “Iran: Resistance against Religious Despotism, Judiciary Executioners, and the Battle against State Terrorism” held in Paris.

During his speech, Vidal Quadras discussed the policies and terrorist activities of Iran’s regime and said, “We must make all our efforts to bring to the European and American public opinion the importance, the absolute importance of transforming this dictatorship, this theocracy, this criminal regime that tortures their own people and does terrorism outside to transform this shame into a democracy with free elections, with equality between men and women, with a sound market economy.”

Dr. Vidal Quadras also attended a ceremony held at the headquarters of the National Council of resistance of Iran (NCRI) the day before, which was organized to honor him. During the event, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the NCRI, described Mr. Vidal Quadras as “a man who has combined policy and dignity. He never gave in and he pioneered the right policy against the Islamic fundamentalist regime ruling Iran. He is the symbol of a historical protest against the policy of appeasement of the religious fascism ruling Iran.”

Dr. Vidal Quadras emphasized in his speech at the ceremony that the terrorist regime of Iran had targeted him for assassination with the intention “to eliminate me and to scare many political men and women and intellectuals and academics who supported the movement, the Resistance, and President Rajavi.

“Well, my message was that you have failed. I am alive, I have recovered. And all these people you wanted to scare, not only they would never have been scared by you, even if I had died, but now that I have not died, they are redoubling their commitment to the movement.”

Vidal Quadras, in his first public appearance, held a press conference in Madrid, four months after his failed assassination by regime agents. Despite still suffering from some of the consequences of the assassination attempt, he spoke at length about the regime’s history of international assassinations. In this widely covered conference by Spanish media and international news agencies, he emphasized that when he became the target, he immediately knew it was the work of the Iranian regime. Therefore, while inside the ambulance and unable to speak, he typed on his phone: ‘Iran!’ to convey his realization to the police present there.

Vidal Quadras also underlined that appeasing the regime does not lead anywhere because they continue their horrific massacres within the country while simultaneously carrying out terrorist activities in Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Yemen, supporting Hezbollah, and providing funding, training, and organization to the Houthis.

Vidal Quadras underlined that it is time for a policy change and called for Iranian regime embassies in Europe to be closed and its diplomats to be expelled. He called for reinstating sanctions against the regime and support for the democratic opposition of Iran, the NCRI, and the Iranian people who have formed and organized numerous resistance units within the country. He reiterated that the people of Iran deserve international support because the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that those under oppression and tyranny have the right to rise for freedom and democracy.

At the NCRI headquarters, Dr. Vidal Quadras said, “My message to the Supreme Leader was from now on, that you have ordered to kill me, not only I will not go backward, but I will also go on with my work of full collaboration with the Iranian Resistance, with more enthusiasm, with more energy and more determination than before.”
