Over 100 cities of 30 provinces in Iran report protests

Protests resumed in Iran on Friday, September 23, amidst heavy security measures and internet blackouts caused by the regime.

In Tabriz, people gathered at the Shahnaz Intersection and chanted “Death to the dictator!”

These protests began following the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency.

Protesting her arrest, Amini was severely beaten by the security forces in a van and was taken to the capital’s Kasra Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. After initial examinations, doctors declared that Amini had suffered a stroke and was brain dead at the same time. Amini died on Friday, September 16. Shortly after, protests broke out in several cities, including Tehran and Saqqez. The protests have continued and expanded since.

On Friday, in Nurabad, south-central Iran, protesters were chanting “Death to the Islamic Republic!”

Due to internet outages, it is really difficult to obtain information from inside Iran. But according to reports, protests spread to 133 cities in all 31 provinces across the country. More than 100 people have been killed by security forces and hundreds have been arrested.

There are reports of many students having been arrested by security forces, and the regime security apparatus is doing house by house searches to identify and arrest protesters. Security forces are calling protesters and their families and threaten them to prevent them from continuing their rallies. Nonetheless, protesters continued to come to streets on Friday.

In Kuhdasht, western Iran, protesters continued their rallies and were chanting “Khamenei is a disgrace!” and “Mullahs must get lost!”

Protests resumed at night as citizens poured into the streets to voice their demand for regime change. In Tehran’s Sattarkhan Street, a large crowd of protesters were chanting, “We will fight and take back Iran!”

In Tehran’s Qeytarieh district, protesters were chanting, “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or [Khamenei]!” This slogan is especially important as the regime has tried to promote a narrative that protesters are supporters of the Shah regime. But Iran’s people are making it clear that they don’t want to be freed from one dictatorship and return to another. They want freedom.

In Tehran’s Jannatabad District, protesters resumed their rallies and set roadblocks to prevent the movement of anti-riot forces.

In another part of Tehran, a large crowd had gathered and were chanting “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” while fires burned in the middle of the street.

In Tehran’s Vali Asr Street, a large motorcade was sent to quell protests. Gunshots and anti-regime slogans can be heard in the background.

In Tehran’s Niavaran District, a large contingent of anti-riot forces were seen moving toward protesters. In response, protesters were chanting, “Khamenei is a murderer! His rule is illegitimate!”

Protests were also reported from Qom, where the authorities held a pro-regime rally earlier today. The protesters defied the presence of security forces and were saying that they will not let the regime continue its rule of tyranny.

Protests in Iran spread to over 100 cities across 30 provinces on Thursday, the seventh day of this latest Iranian uprising, with the Iranian people keen on overthrowing the mullahs’ regime. There have been numerous reports of intense clashes as the regime’s security forces have launched a massive nationwide crackdown parallel to imposing severe internet restrictions to cut off communication between protesters and prevent reports of such anti-regime protests from leaking to the outside world. Agency France Presse issued a report yesterday citing a non-government organization saying 31 protesters have been killed by the regime’s security forces. Other reports indicate hundreds of people injured and widespread arrests by the mullahs’ oppressive forces.

Instagram and WhatsApp social media platforms and messaging services have been completely cut off by the authorities. Despite all the suppressive measures and censorships to bring an end to the anti-regime protests, the continuation of protests throughout Iran indicate the Iranian people are overcoming all obstacles in pursuit of their ultimate objective of bringing an end to the mullahs’ regime. As nightfall begins, brave youths and protesters are taking over their streets and various areas in their cities and towns, creating havoc for the mullahs’ regime.

Protesters across the country have been chanting anti-regime slogans targeting the regime’s senior hierarchy, specifically regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The slogans include:
“Death to Khamenei!”
“Death to the dictator!”
“The supreme leader is a disgrace”
