Time, July 17, 2017 - Barnet Iranians and MPs attended a peace rally in Paris to fight against extremism.
A group including director of the Association of Anglo-Iranian Women in the UK Laila Jazayeri and MPs Theresa Villiers and Matthew Offord went to Paris on July 1 to speak with thousands of others at the #FreeIran event at Villepinte Auditorium, Villepinte, Paris.
The annual event brings together speakers from the United States, Europe and Middle Eastern countries, with this year’s theme focusing on “The solution to the Iran crisis”.
Ms Jazayeri said: “The fact that Iran poses a major threat and is pursuing a malign policy is not an issue of dispute any more.
“At the same time, the tragic event in Manchester is just an example of how Islamic extremism, when left unchecked, is reaching all corners of Europe.
“That’s why the “Free Iran” rally is very important.”
Those speaking called on Iranian ex-pats and international supporters to fight for peace for those living in Iran and for regime change to give the population their freedom.
Head of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Maryam Rajavi, called on the people of Iran to “rise up” and resist the regime.
She said: “There is a power in you that has made the ruling dictatorship desperate in the face of your resistance and protests; there is a power in you which can certainly overthrow the religious fascist regime.
“Yes, the time has come to go on the offensive and march forward.”
