In tandem with the intensification of Iranian regime’s domestic and external crises and the upsurge in social discontent, the cycle of execution and torture is accelerating in the religious fascism ruling Iran. The rule of the bloodthirsty supreme leader Khamenei is intertwined with slaughter and suppression with the machine of murder and atrocity working incessantly.
At dawn on June 8, concurrent with the visit of a European Parliament delegation to Iran, Iranian regime’s henchmen hanged a large number of prisoners in various prisons across the country. The names and particulars of many victims are yet to be determined. So far, eleven of those executed in Ghezel-Hessar Prison on Monday have been identified. Along with these eleven, a number of Afghan and Iraqi citizens were also hanged in this prison.
On Monday morning, at least 11 prisoners, including a number of women, were hanged in Bandar Abbas Prison. In addition, five prisoners in Karaj Central Prison, six prisoners in Urmia Prison, one prisoner in Qa’em-Shahr Prison, and one prisoner in Adel-Abad Prison of Shiraz were also hanged.
In a meeting yesterday with the EP delegation, head henchman Javad Larijani, the head of Iranian regime’s Human Rights Council in the judiciary, brazenly said: Europeans know better than others that the main reason the rate of execution is high in our country is due to Iran’s unremitting fight against the smuggling of drugs that its principal destinations are the capitals of EU member states. However, the Europeans who are so sensitive and complain about the implementation of the law in our country in combating drugs do not mind the massacre of innocent people by their regional allies and we have never seen expression of such feelings on their part regarding this issue (Khabar Online state website – June 8). This is while the Iranian regime thoroughly controls the drug trafficking and this regime’s leaders are major international smugglers.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, emphasized last week that these collective and arbitrary executions are clear examples of crime against humanity. “Khamenei and other leaders of the regime must be held accountable for their flagrant violations of human rights,” she said.
The international community’s silence and inaction over the systematic brutalities and abuses in Iran with the excuse of nuclear negotiations or else, tramples upon humanitarian values and human rights and further emboldens Iran’s religious fascist regime in slaughtering the populace and continuing its efforts to acquire the nuclear bomb and export fundamentalism and terrorism.
