Iran, May 28, 2020—The new Majlis (parliament) of the Iranian regime, characterized by its interim chairman as the "Supreme Leader's Majlis," held its first meeting on Wednesday, May 27.
The speaker of the Majlis, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, is a former Revolutionary Guard commander and police chief, a thug who had boasted of personally taking on young demonstrators. He will be leading a parliament that is dominated by close allies of the regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The structure of the new Majlis is further sign of the regime moving toward fulfilling Khamenei’s dreams of establishing “a young and Hezbollahi government,” where there’s no longer any political maneuvers aimed at portraying a democratic image of the regime.
The new Majlis is a clear sign of mullahs’ regime being in a critical situation and the final phase of its rule. Khamenei is consolidating power in his own entourage in fear of popular uprisings and protests. He thinks that this move will help him maintain his outdated rule, but the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Resistance Units, MEK’s network inside Iran, are poised to overthrow his regime and establish democracy in Iran.
The Iranian Resistance Units played a key role and had a major impact on nationwide uprisings of December 2017 and November 2019 that shook the Iranian regime in its entirety. This brave and young generation is an extension of the more than 120,000 MEK members who have sacrificed their lives for freedom in more than five decades and are realizing the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime.
In the powder keg circumstances of Iran’s society, the MEK’s organized structure based on the Resistance Units activities is the most important force behind regime change in Iran.
In recent days, members of the Resistance Units across the country in cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Lahijan, Mashhad, Zanjan, Qom, Dezful, Karaj, Arak, Babolsar, Kermanshah, Gohardasht (Karaj), Khorramabad, and Islamabad have been posting banners and taking to graffiti in public areas, writing messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
On Wednesday, May 27, the defiant youth of Lahijan, Karaj, and Dezful burned images of Khamenei, regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini and Qassem Soleimani, the regime’s now-dead terror mastermind.

On the same day, in other major cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Zanjan, Mashhad and Qom, Iranian Resistance Units installed banners and handwritten posters on walls that read: “Rouhani and Khamenei are the cause of the coronavirus outbreak” and “Down with the principle of the Supreme Leader’s rule.”
On Monday and Tuesday, in Arak, Qom, Kermanshah, Gohardasht, and Karaj, images of Khomeini, Khamenei, Soleimani and regime terrorist Abu Mehdi Mohandes, along with two Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Basij bases and a religious propaganda center for the spread of fundamentalism were torched by the brave and rebellious youths of these cities. These centers are the main institutions behind suppression and looting Iranian people’s wealth.

Also on Monday and Tuesday, in other cities such as Tehran, Arak, Isfahan, Mashhad, Babolsar, Khorramabad, and Islamabad, the members of Resistance Units continued their activities and spread messages of hope and resistance during the coronavirus pandemic by installing banners and handwritten slogans on the walls that read: “It is time to rise up, to rebel and rise up and break the prison chains,” “We will resist and fight the coronavirus and the ruling theocracy,” “Iran is blazing. The people of Iran want to get rid of the coronavirus and the mullahs,” “There is a single solution for the mullahs’ oppression and tyranny, that solution is overthrowing the mullahs and establishing democracy,” and “Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi.”
