Iranian political prisoner marks 1988 massacre

Reported by PMOI/MEK

Iran, July 30, 2019 – Iranian political prisoner Mrs. Fatemeh (Houri) Ziaie sent a message on the anniversary of the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners by the regime of Iran. Below are excerpts of her message, in which she commemorated the memory of those “freedom-lovers who said no to tyranny and kissed the noose.”

There are some unforgettable chapters in history that will never be erased from our memories, such as the summer of 1988 when the blood of the most beloved and talented young people of our country was shed to strengthen an idea.

Those freedom-lovers who kissed the noose and continued their journey with smiles on their faces; those relentless souls who were executed for defying the darkness and defending their beliefs.

Those days, no one realized what happened to those freedom-loving youth in the regime’s prisons; family members of victims repeatedly protested in front of the United Nations headquarters in the U.S. and Europe. Sadly, however, the West chose silence and continued appeasing the mullahs’ regime. They chose to close their eyes on reality to avoid jeopardizing their filthy interests.

The revelation of the audiotape of Mr. Montazeri, Khomeini’s heir at that time, and his objection to the executions in 1988 elucidated so many dark issues for the Iranian people, pushing the younger generation to seek the truth, despite the regime’s numerous efforts to twist the reality by publishing books and producing films.

The bright moon of truth will not stay behind the thick clouds of allegations and lies forever. No matter how deep the secrets are buried, they will emerge.
