Iran Opposition President Meets with Mr. Patrick Kennedy

By PMOI/MEK

August 28, 2018 – Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi welcomed former U.S. congressman Patrick Kennedy in Paris to discuss the Iranian regime’s critical situation, the continued protests and uprisings across the country, and the regime resorting to terrorism in the face of escalating domestic and international crises.

Maryam Rajavi shed light on the current situation in Iran, the continuation of the protests and the role of resistance units in expanding dissent against the mullahs’ regime throughout Iran.

“The regime has no solution”

The regime has no solution to the existing and growing crises besetting the entirety of its apparatus, especially as the Iranian people’s revolts to overthrow the regime are and will continue, Rajavi emphasized.

In reference to the Iranian regime’s recent terrorist plots against the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Albania, France and Belgium, in addition to the arrest of two Iranian regime spies in the United States, Patrick Kennedy highlighted the fact that these incidents indicate the PMOI/MEK is the only existential threat to the regime and the only viable alternative to them. There is no history or trace of any other group who could claim to present an alternative to the mullahs’ regime, Mr. Kennedy added.

The PMOI is the only genuine alternative which has kept the flames of resistance burning, Mr. Kennedy continued, adding this organization has struggled for freedom against the Shah’s detested dictatorship and SAVAK, and against the theocratic regime ruling Iran. Such continuity in the struggle against dictatorial regimes is an indication of the PMOI’s profound conviction in practical implementation of democracy, the former congressman emphasized.

This meeting was held following an unprecedented international conference held simultaneous in 20 different cities across the globe marking the 30th anniversary of the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners, mostly PMOI/MEK members and supporters.
