Iran: MEK Resistance Units call for boycott of sham elections in June

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 3, 2021—The network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran continued its nationwide campaign against the regime’s upcoming sham presidential election.

In various cities, the members of MEK’s network, known as the Iranian Resistance Units, installed anti-regime banners and slogans. “My vote is overthrowing of the mullahs’ regime and yes to a democratic republic,” “Let’s hope for the mullahs’ departure with the boycott of the sham presidential election,” and “freedom for all Iranians,” their posters read in part.

These anti-regime activities took place in Tehran, Shiraz, Tabriz, Rasht, Isfahan, Mashhad, Ahvaz, Hamadan, Kermanshah, Zahedan, Qaemshahr, Khorramabad, Abadan, Babol, Bandar Abbas, Karaj, Langroud, Behbahan, and Sarepol Zahab.

In Ahvaz, the Resistance Units also installed huge banners of Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), that that called for an all-out boycott of the regime’s sham presidential election.

Also, various video messages were sent in solidarity with the Iranian Resistance campaign on social media, “No to the sham election, yes to a democratic republic.”

Arash from Mashhad said in his video message, “Sooner or later, we will overthrow the mullahs and we will stand until the end.”

“Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi,” “They try to buy our vote, but we will not let that happen and we will overthrow Khamenei,” said another person in a video message from Kermanshah.

The boycott of the election is the regime’s main concern in the upcoming months. The Iranian people have clearly expressed their will for regime change in various major protests in recent years. In various anti-regime rallies and protests, people frequently chant “Reformists, hardliners, the game is over,” which shows people’s rejection of the entire establishment of the mullahs.

“If participation in the upcoming elections is like the recent parliamentary elections, we will face a crisis of legitimacy,” warned Mohammad Sadr, a member of the regime’s Expediency Discernment Council on March 27.

Previously, the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei warned on March 15 in this regard, “The Enemy is lying in ambush. We must repeat this so that people don’t forget it. The enemy is working constantly to discourage the youth.”
