Resistance Units across Iran commemorate PMOI founders on the anniversary of their martyrdom

In a powerful display of unity and resilience, cities across Iran are witnessing widespread commemoration events in honor of the martyrdom anniversary of the founders of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

The PMOI’s founders, Mohammad Hanifnejad, Saeid Mohsen, and Ali-Asghar Badizadegan, were executed on May 25, 1972 by the Shah’s regime, but their sacrifice has continued to inspire generations of freedom fighters in Iran.

Resistance Units, the internal network of the PMOI, have organized numerous activities to pay homage to the founders’ legacy. These activities included displaying banners and posters, projecting images of PMOI founders and leaders, and holding ceremonies in memory of the founders.

The activities took place in many cities, including Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Rasht, and Karaj. In Tehran, the Resistance Units commemorated the founders with a poster that read, “Mohammad Hanifnejad planted the first seeds of honesty and sacrifice.”

Another poster in Tehran bore the picture of Massoud Rajavi with the message: “The morning of May 25, 1972, the blood of [Hanifnejad] flipped a new page in the history of Iran.” Another poster read, “Mohammad Hanifnejad planted the first seeds of honesty and sacrifice. Indeed he became the eternal sun of his nation.”

In Mashhad, a picture of Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, read, “Mohammad Hanifnejad kept the flames of resistance alive at any cost in the cells of Evin prison.”

A poster of Massoud Rajavi in Karaj read, “The blood of Mohammad Hanifnejad is without a doubt the heaviest price that the PMOI paid on the path to accomplish its ideals.”

The PMOI founders were executed after being arrested and tortured by the SAVAK, the notorious secret police of the Shah regime. Their martyrdom, however, did not quell the spirit of resistance but rather served as a catalyst for the growth of the organization. The PMOI has since evolved into a significant political opposition force, advocating for a secular, democratic, and non-nuclear Iran.

The Resistance Units, formed in recent years, have played a crucial role in organizing and mobilizing the Iranian people against the oppressive regime. Their activities have included exposing human rights abuses and organizing anti-regime protests. The Resistance Units have been instrumental in keeping the spirit of the PMOI founders alive and fostering a new generation of freedom fighters.

As Iran commemorates the anniversary of the PMOI founders’ martyrdom, the widespread activities of the Resistance Units serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of Hanifnejad, Mohsen, and Badizadegan. Their sacrifice continues to inspire hope and determination among the Iranian people, who remain steadfast in their pursuit of freedom and democracy.
