On April 10, 2026, PMOI Resistance Units resumed their bold anti-regime activities in Zahedan, southeast Iran, holding up placards and messages in public locations. Despite the regime’s unbridled bloodshed and a massive wave of recent political executions, these activists remain highly active on the ground, proving that the regime’s heavy-handed crackdown has failed to silence the opposition.
Welcoming the ceasefire to pave the way for peace
The Resistance Units in Zahedan displayed banners welcoming the recent 15-day ceasefire, expressing hope that it will end the war and pave the way for true peace and freedom. This grassroots message echoes the official stance of Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). She welcomed the halt to attacks on civilian infrastructure as the “most appropriate decision” by the United States, reaffirming that the slogan of the Iranian Resistance and the provisional government has always been “peace and freedom.”

The Resistance Units highlighted a stark contrast between their democratic goals and the opportunism of the remnants of the monarchy. One placard read: “We welcome the ceasefire. Bombings is the demand of the son of the shah as a means to seize power.”
Another message noted that while the Shah’s son previously asked for the regime’s army to take to the streets, he is now demanding that the people stay home and be patient. Both the Resistance Units and the NCRI leadership stress a fundamental reality: lasting peace in Iran and the Middle East can only be achieved through the overthrow of the warmongering, absolute clerical rule (Velayat-e-Fagih) dictatorship and the establishment of a democratic republic.
Honoring the martyrs and condemning the executions
The activists in Zahedan paid tribute to recently executed PMOI members and brave protesters, stating that these heroes set an example of steadfastness, honesty, and sacrifice for the younger generation who are taking to the streets in consecutive uprisings. They held placards saluting the “steadfast PMOI members who did not surrender in face of torture and pressure and threats and triumphantly remained true to their pledge with God and the people.”

In an international conference held on April 10, Maryam Rajavi honored the six PMOI members and seven young protesters recently put to death, calling them martyrs of peace and freedom. She noted that Ali Khamenei’s son continues the daily execution of Iran’s youth to protect the moribund regime’s crumbling grip on power from impending uprisings.
The Resistance Units argued that conducting chain executions in the midst of a foreign conflict exposes the regime’s true fears. Their placards stated that the executions prove “the main enemy of the regime is on the ground and it is the people and Resistance of Iran.”
Far from delaying the regime’s overthrow, the Resistance Units warned that the “unbridled bloodshed” will not go unanswered. Instead, the unjustly spilled blood will only amplify the rage of the people and the determination of freedom fighters. Echoing Mrs. Rajavi’s statements, the Resistance Units displayed placards demanding that a halt to executions in Iran must be included as a mandatory condition in any international agreement.
Rejecting the shah and the mullahs
The Resistance Units proudly displayed slogans rejecting all forms of tyranny, writing: “A dictatorship is a dictatorship, whether with a turban or a crown.” By holding placards reading “Down with the oppressor, be it the shah or the supreme leader” and “No to shah no to mullahs, the demand of the Iranian people is a democratic republic,” the activists made it clear that the Iranian people will not settle for a return to the past.

As highlighted by both the activists on the ground and Mrs. Rajavi, the true conflict in Iran over the past 100 years has always been between the forces of freedom and the tyrannies of both the Shah and the mullahs.
The real alternative on the ground
The bravery and widespread activities of the Zahedan Resistance Units perfectly illustrate the point that the solution for Iran lies neither in appeasement nor in a foreign war, but in the overthrow of the regime by the Iranian people and their organized resistance. From Zahedan to Tehran, the Resistance Units are standing firm. As their placards promised, “the blood of the martyred rebels will dismantle the religious dictatorship in Iran,” making way for a free, democratic republic.
