In parallel with fanning the flames of war and destruction in the Middle East region, Iran’s regime has been engaged in a widespread campaign of suppression at home. In the past month alone, the regime has carried out more than 100 executions. The regime has also ratcheted up political executions, including the recent execution of Milad Zohrevand, a youth arrested during the 2022 uprising, and Ali Saber Motlaq, a supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).
The regime’s goal is to cause terror and fear in the society and dissuade people from joining the ranks of the resistance and organized protests. However, the regime has failed to achieve its goals as, as is evident in the activities of Resistance Units, the network of PMOI supporters inside Iran.
In their latest activities across the country, the Resistance Units spread the messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and NCRI president-elect Maryam Rajavi.
In Shiraz and Mashhad, Resistance Units members hung posters of Maryam Rajavi from bridges.
In Sari, a group of Resistance Units members marched in streets and chanted, “Our battlefield is Iran. The head of the snake is in Tehran. Death to Khamenei. Hail to Rajavi.”
In Tehran, Karaj, and Shiraz the Resistance Units installed posters of Massoud Rajavi with the message, “The uprising of the people will not be stopped. The rebels will be victorious.”
Also in Tehran, the Resistance Units hung a photo of Maryam Rajavi with the message, “We will stand with Maryam until the end.”
In Mashhad, the Resistance Units held photos of Maryam Rajavi and placards that read, “Freedom will come with ‘We can and we must,’” “Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi,” “Maryam Rajavi is the symbol of resistance against the mullahs,” “Our choice is Maryam Rajavi,” and “Democracy freedom with Maryam Rajavi.”
In Sari, one of the members of the Resistance Units said, “We are rebels and fighters until the end.”
In Hamedan, the Resistance Units held posters with the image of Massoud Rajavi and Maryam Rajavi with the messages “The overthrow of the anti-human enemy is inevitable” and “The main demand of the protesters is the overthrow of the regime.”
In Sistan and Baluchestan province, the Resistance Units held their activities in support of the Baluch people, who have been under even more repression by the regime.
In Zahedan, the Resistance Units held placards that read “Down with all these years of crimes” and “We swear on the blood of the martyrs that we will stand till the end.”
In Rask, the Resistance Units held placards that read “So many years of crime, down with the mullahs’ rule” and “Down with Khamenei, long live freedom.”
Today, the regime is terrified of its diminishing power to contain another round of protests, which will happen sooner or later. The regime is trying to leverage different excuses, including the ongoing war in Gaza, to divert attention from its crises and the intensifying restiveness of the Iranian society.
But at every corner, the regime’s tactics are met with the efforts of the Resistance Units. Neither its warmongering nor its suppressive tactics will save the regime from its inevitable overthrow.
