People celebrate Fire Festival across Iran, express opposition to the regime

Despite broad efforts by the regime to prevent celebrations during the annual Fire Festival (Charshanbe Suri), marking the eve of the final Wednesday of the Persian calendar year, people across Iran celebrated this Persian tradition.

Iranian people celebrate Charshanbe Suri by lighting and jumping over fires. The regime fears that such assemblies can lead up to anti-regime protests. Therefore, every year, it takes intense measures to prevent any kind of celebration.

In Tehran’s, the people celebrated the Fire Festival with firecrackers in different areas.

The people also expressed their opposition to the regime by writing slogans on walls. In Tehran, graffiti on walls read, “Death to [regime supreme leader Ali] Khamenei, the puppet of Russia,” referring to the regime’s support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

According to videos from Gorgan, the police are patrolling the streets to prevent people from celebrating the Fire Festival.

In Rasht, citizens celebrated the Fire Festival by setting fire to the photos of Khamenei and mullahs’ regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini.

Also in Rasht, Resistance Units, the network of the MEK inside Iran, posted printed slogans on walls. “Death to Khamenei. Death to [Ebrahim] Raisi, the butcher of the 1988 massacre. Viva Rajavi. Long live freedom,” the posters read.

In Ghaleh Hassan Khan, the people defied security forces and celebrated the Fire Festival with firecrackers. In Shahr-e Ray, the people lit large bonfires on the sides of the streets.

In Kermanshah, there was heavy police presence, but the people celebrated the national festivity nonetheless.

In Qom, the people celebrated Charshanbe Suri with firecrackers. In Tehran, a citizen set fire to a photo of Khamenei and Qassem Soleimani, the regime’s eliminated terror mastermind.

In Safar Abad, Zanjan, the people defied security forces by lighting firecrackers. In Karaj, the people lit fires and firecrackers.

One of the residents of Azarbaijan said, “The people are going on rooftops because security forces are bothering them in the streets.” Sounds of fireworks could be heard in the background as people continued to celebrate the Fire Festival despite the presence of security forces.

“These are our national celebrations,” the citizen said. “We will not back down from our traditions. This is our answer to the treacherous mullahs.”

In Isfahan, the citizens ignored the warnings of security forces and held their celebrations in the streets by lighting fires and jumping over them.

In West Kerend, Kermanshah, the people blocked one of the streets and lit a large fire to celebrate the Fire Festival.

According to reports from inside Evin prison, political prisoners celebrated the Fire Festival with the slogans, “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to the dictator.”
