Iran protests continue as brave Baluchis take to the streets yet again

Last update: 9:00 pm CET

The nationwide uprising in Iran is marking its 92nd day on Friday, with the brave Baluchi community of Sistan & Baluchestan Province, located in southeast Iran, took to the streets again today in line with their continuous anti-regime weekly protests held every Friday. The Baluchis’ endurance continues despite regime security forces continuing their crackdown against this long-oppressed community.

Protests in Iran have to this day expanded to at least 280 cities. Over 700 people have been killed and more than 30,000 are arrested by the regime’s forces, according to sources of Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The names of 580 killed protesters have been published by the PMOI/MEK.

Friday’s protests began with mass rallies in Zahedan and Rask. Protesters marched after the Friday Prayers and chanted slogans against the regime. “I will kill those who killed my brother!” the protesters chanted as they vowed to avenge the protesters killed and executed by the regime in recent weeks. The protesters also called for the release of political prisoners and condemned the Revolutionary Guards and Basij, which have played a key role in the suppression of protesters.

In Tehran, people gathered at the grave of Ali Ruzbahani to commemorate him on the 40th day of his murder by security forces. Ali’s brother, who spoke at the gathering, said, “We’re 80 million. My brother who stands in front of armed forces with a rock in his hand, he knows that 80 million people have his back. We’re not afraid of your bullets and guns. We’re not afraid of anything. It makes no difference, whether you kill in Tehran or Kurdistan, or Khuzestan or Zahedan. We want justice for our brothers and sisters. I will kill those who killed my sister!”

Ali’s father, who also spoke at the gathering, said, “Don’t expect us to forget. Don’t expect us to forgo revenge and to forgive the person who killed this kid. We won’t forgive.”

On Thursday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted its sixty-ninth resolution condemning the regime’s human rights violations in Iran by 80 votes in favor and 29 against. The efforts of the regime’s allies and other human rights violators to prevent the adoption of the resolution failed.

Iranian opposition coalition NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi highlighted the regime’s four decades of gross human rights violations and the Iranian people’s perseverance that has resulted in such measures by the international community against the regime of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

“Congratulations to the oppressed but brave people of Iran. Congratulations to Iranian protesters, freedom fighters, and Resistance Units on the UN General Assembly’s adoption of its 69th resolution condemning human rights abuses in Iran. The pure blood of innocent children like Kian and Hasti killed during Iran’s protests sealed global censure of Khamenei’s bloodthirsty regime while Iranian people’s resolve foiled the efforts of regime’s allies and other rights violators to prevent adoption of this resolution,” the NCRI President-elect explained in her message.

“The clerical regime has been involved in crimes against humanity for more than four decades. The mass execution of political prisoners and the massacre of the people of Kurdistan in 1980s, the 1988 prison massacre, the slaughtering of protesters in November 2019, the massacre of Baluch and Arab compatriots and the suppression of the nationwide uprising killing at least 700, including 70 children, and the criminal executions of the detained protesters in 2022. The dossier of the regime’s crimes must be referred to UN Security Council to adopt preventive measures, especially regarding detained protesters, and the prosecution of regime leaders and officials,” Madam Rajavi added.

On Thursday night protesters in Tehran’s Chitgar district and the town of Parand in Tehran Province were seen in the streets launching anti-regime protests and chanting slogans against the mullahs’ regime. Earlier in the day reports from the city of Rask in Sistan & Baluchestan Province showed authorities dispatching oppressive security units to quell anti-regime protests expected on Friday.

The protests in Iran began following the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency.

She was brutally beaten by the morality police and died of her wounds in a Tehran hospital on September 16. The event triggered protests that quickly spread across Iran and rekindled the people’s desire to overthrow the regime.
