Spokesperson of the regime’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that in the past 24-hour period 174 coronavirus patients have died and 4,156 individuals are in ICU. Similar to Wednesday, she declared 26 provinces as red or alarming zones. “From March we had been witnessing a decreasing trend in Qom. However, in the past six weeks we have been witnessing an escalating trend of the virus in this province. Currently, this trend is constant and rising in contrast to the first trend. The status quo continues and has resulted in the province being designated as a red zone,” she added.

“The red status and job fatigue among Qom’s medical staff are significant,” said the deputy dean of Qom Medical University on Wednesday. “We have an increasing trend and are considered a red zone. The number of dire patients is increasing. The growing number of people entering hospitals and being hospitalized in Qom is a warning… Currently, the possibility of Covid-19 tests returning as positive has reached 49 percent,” he added, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) Quds Force.

“Six months has passed since Covid-19 began and all our apparatus and officials are engaged in confronting this illness. The medical staff and scientific experts have been working very hard. We need to prevent the excessive fatigue among our medical professionals,” said the governor of Qom on Wednesday. “Restrictions will be imposed if the status quo doesn’t normalize in Qom by Sunday (August 9),” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours another seven Covid-19 patients have lost their lives in Hormozgan and the number of deaths in this province has increased to 577 from the beginning of the pandemic,” according to a statement issued by the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Thursday.

In Mazandaran province, the dean of Babol Medical Sciences University called on the locals to refrain from trips to prevent the spread of Covid-19 because the virus’ transmission power has increased by ten-fold in comparison to the past, according to a Thursday report wired by ISNA.

“The speed of Covid-19’s transmission has increased by seven-fold in comparison to February and March, said the head of the Kashan Health and Treatment Network in Isfahan province on Thursday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“Our colleagues in hospitals and other medical centers have been with enormous sacrifice providing treatment to Covid-19 patients for five months now. It is completely natural that they are fatigued and if the status quo continues they will not be able to continue their efforts,” according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Medical Center Board of Directors in Yazd Province.
