“The number of people being hospitalized in cities registered as red zones is rising. Border cities such as Zabol, Paveh, and Baneh are considered red zones and their numbers are rising. Currently, our main concern is in the areas of South Khorasan province [eastern Iran],” said the caretaker of the Health Ministry’s Office of Stats and Technology on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The deputy dean of Yazd Medical Sciences University reported a 50 percent increase in the number of people seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 symptoms and a 100 percent increase in the number of people being hospitalized in the city of Bahabad in comparison to two weeks ago, according to a report wired on Thursday by the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“Coronavirus continues to spread at a fast pace [in Mazandaran province] and forecasts indicate the sixth wave is not far off. There are currently 388 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 19 are in ICUs,” according to a report wired on Thursday by the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The status quo in Kurdistan is fragile. The number of people hospitalized has increased and the city of Baneh is registered as red zone, while Sabzevar, Qarveh, Bijar are yellow, and remaining cities are orange zones,” said the dean of Kurdistan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“190 coronavirus patients are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 158 new patients have been hospitalized. We currently have 1428 patients hospitalized,” according to a statement released by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Thursday.

“Today, news of the coronavirus and lack of assurance among decision-making officials has led to people losing their tolerance. This loss of tolerance in the face of various issues is not limited to the working class or your average employees. In fact, it also consists of university professors, and politicians who get angry very quickly these days, and begin shouting at students, their supporters, and the entire society,” according to a piece published on Thursday in the state-run Jahan-e San’at daily.
