Iran coronavirus update: Over 447,100 deaths, more officials citing “fragile conditions”

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, October 3, 2021—Over 447,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Sunday afternoon local time, October 3. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 121,109 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 104,796 in Tehran, 36,765 in Razavi Khorasan, 30,030 in Isfahan, 27,405 in Khuzestan, 16,655 in Mazandaran, 16,059 in Fars, 16,053 in West Azerbaijan, 15,670 in Gilan, 13,098 in Alborz, 11,857 in Kerman, 10,035 in Golestan, 8393 in Hamedan, 8173 in Markazi (Central), 8054 in Kermanshah, 7092 in Kurdistan, 4310 in Zanjan, 4248 in Ilam, and 3224 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Sunday as 229 deaths and 12,428 new cases, of which 1667 were hospitalized. Furthermore, 5758 patients are in ICUs.

“The Health Minister said two days ago: ‘Soon we will celebrate full vaccination across the country.’ To this day no country in the world has claimed full vaccination for coronavirus and many countries have started implementing third vaccine doses. Important here is not the celebration of overcoming coronavirus or full vaccination. This is the main issue at hand,” reads an article published Sunday by the state-run Jahan-e San’at daily.

“Based on statistics from the Beheshte Zahra Cemetery that we have received, last Friday they registered 72 coronavirus deaths in this facility,” said a member of the Tehran Cit Council on Sunday, according to the Mizan news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s judiciary.

“Last night the only direct flight between Kerman and Iraq returned and the coronavirus test results of all the pilgrims were concerning because a significant number of the passengers tested positive. The recent holidays and pilgrims returning from Iraq sound an alarm bell for us regarding the spread of Covid-19. The number of people who went on these trips were very high and they also used ground routes. During the coronavirus peak other provinces had 400 to 500 patients hospitalized. Today we are witnessing the decreasing period of the fifth peak and we have more than 800 people hospitalized,” said the governor of Kerman province on Sunday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“Each day we have 2500 people seeking initial medical care in centers under the umbrella of the Mashhad Medical Sciences University. We are still very far from the 1000 figure prior to the fifth peak. Considering the upcoming holidays, the status quo is fragile and unstable,” according to a statement released Sunday by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University.

“The situation is not stable, and we are concerned, especially since we have yet to reach full vaccination and have not established herd immunity,” according to a statement released on Sunday by the Razavi Khorasan Covid-19 Task Force.

“Based on the registered numbers from April 21 to August 23, parallel to vaccination efforts, 75 percent of those who died of Covid-19 had not been vaccinated,” said the deputy dean of Kashan Medical Sciences University in Isfahan province on Sunday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Currently we have 1997 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 388 are in ICUs. During the past 24 hours 42 people have lost their lives,” according to a join statement released on Sunday by the Isfahan and Kashan Medical Sciences universities.

In Fars province the dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University reported on Sunday that 250 to 300 coronavirus patients were hospitalized each day during the past week. “The number of people entering our hospitals remains to be high. The number of people with coronavirus symptoms seeking medical treatment at 16-hour medical centers across Fars province remains high and significant. This issue can lead to a new rise in coronavirus,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In Kerman province the status quo is fragile and the numbers of the past two days of Kerman Medical Sciences University indicate a new rise in the number of Covid-19 deaths. The medical staff are extremely fatigued,” according to a Sunday report wired by the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
