“The officials have scored a very bad grade, meaning they have failed… many of them don’t wear masks, nor do they abide by social distancing regulations,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Friday. “Last November and December were the harshest months during this coronavirus period,” he added, according to state TV.

“During the past three days we have seen a 26 percent increase in the number of people seeking medical care for Covid-19 symptoms in comparison to the three days before that,” said the spokesperson of the Khuzestan Covid-19 Task Force on Thursday. “These are signs of grave concerns for us,” this official added, according to state TV.

Head of the Abadan Medical Sciences University on Friday reported an increase in the number of new cases and patients being hospitalized in the cities of Abadan, Khorramshahr and Shadegan. “Hospitals in the southwest regions of our province are packed with patients,” this official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“More than 90 percent of the new cases are of the mutated UK strain. During the past 24 hours we have identified 82 new such cases, pushing the total tally to 481 cases of the mutated strain,” said the spokesperson of the Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 2350 cases with Covid-19 symptoms have sought medical care in hospitals under the umbrella of [Isfahan] Medical Sciences University, of which 668 were confirmed coronavirus cases. Currently there are 604 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 98 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of this facility on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

In Fars province, the deputy dean of Larestan Medical Sciences University declared on Friday that 75 percent of positive tests in Joyam county were of the UK coronavirus strain. “Since today, roads between Joyam and other cities will be blocked until further notice,” he added, according to the IRNA news agency.

Jabar Kuchaki Nejad, MP from Gilan said on Friday, “The cities of Gilan are on the red status threshold. Yesterday, we visited two hospitals in the province capital. There are many hospitalized patients and several are in critical health conditions. There’s no consistency in the decision making of the Covid-19 Task Force. The president and Task Force officials each give different directives for travel restrictions. This inconsistency made it hard for provincial authorities to decide, and consequently, the entrance of travelers to cities was allowed.” (Source: ICANA news agency)

The Medical Sciences University of Mazandaran province declared on Friday, “The number of coronavirus patients has increased for the fourteenth consecutive day, and more than 530 Covid-19 patients have been hospitalized.” (Source: state TV)
