“The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in the past two days in southwest Khuzestan province has doubled. Therefore, considering what we have seen regarding the omicron variant and the increasing number of people hospitalized in the region, the threat of entering the sixth peak is quite real,” said the dean of Abadan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are concerned about the explosive spread of omicron. This variant is spreading immeasurably across Europe and if it starts spreading in our country, too, we will witness similar circumstances in Fars province,” said the dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Two cases of omicron have been confirmed in Ardastan and this town has joined the cities and towns in which omicron has been identified in. Considering the high pace of this virus spreading it is likely that many more people have contracted it in this town,” said the director of Ardastan Health Network in Isfahan province on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We currently have 358 coronavirus patients, of which 104 are in ICUs and 35 are under ventilators,” according to a report released on Wednesday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“As of today, we have 229 coronavirus patients, of which 50 are in ICUs and 14 under ventilators,” said the dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the regime’s officials IRIB news agency.
