“Omicron is spreading across the country at a fast pace. From our point of view any cold sickness means omicron and the sick individual must immediately be hospitalized and receive medical care,” said the Hygiene Network director in the city of Bonab of East Azerbaijan province on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Considering the fast spread of omicron, we may witness an omicron peak in the country and face a new challenge,” said the deputy dean of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past five days the number of coronavirus patients in Razavi Khorasan province has been increasing,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University.

“With 95 new coronavirus patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, the total number of patients stands at 621, of which 121 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University.

“There are currently 415 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 135 are in ICUs and 27 are under ventilators,” according to a statement released on Thursday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.

“The variant that has reached Iran will without a doubt take many lives! Now the question is in such circumstances, is it logical to have kids present in schools? The answer to this question is no because the lives of millions of students is at risk as we speak. This is a question that the officials need to provide answers to,” according to a piece published on Thursday in the state-run Aftab-e Yazd newspaper.
