Over 489,400 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Friday afternoon local time, December 17. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 130,992, around a fourth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 114,610 in Tehran, 33,680 in Isfahan, 18,428 in West Azerbaijan, 18,385 in Fars, 17,820 in Mazandaran, 14,338 in Alborz, 13,152 in Kerman, 10,675 in Golestan, 6338 in North Khorasan, 5684 in Qazvin, and 4665 in Zanjan. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.
The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Friday as 46 deaths and 2196 new cases. Furthermore, 2941 patients are in ICUs and 341 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“Most certainly omicron exists in Iran, and we will soon see its spread. When this variant is seen in neighboring countries, we are not separate from this matter,” said Mohammad Mokhtari, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force Scientific Committee, on Friday, according to the state-run Borna outlet.
“During the last school year, 44,150 students across [Razavi Khorasan] province dropped out of school. In the poor cities, towns, and villages, including Nokhandan, Zaveh, and Jolgeh-Rokh, where these numbers are higher than other areas,” said the Director of Education in Razavi Khorasan province on Friday, according to the state-run Moj news agency.
“Half of the working nurses in [West Azerbaijan] province do not enjoy job security. As we speak, we have one nurse for each active bed in this province. The standard is two nurses for each active bed,” said the caretaker dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
“There are currently 506 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 140 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released Friday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.
“There are currently 662 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 96 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Friday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.
“During the past 24 hours, 129 people contracted coronavirus. There are currently 394 people hospitalized in [Isfahan] province (aside from the cities of Kashan and Arad & Bidgol), of which 75 are in ICUs,” according to a report wired Friday by the regime’s official IRIB news agency.
