Iran coronavirus update: Over 488,800 deaths, 2000 students contracted Covid in Tehran

Over 488,800 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, December 15. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 130,883, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 114,460 in Tehran, 33,620 in Isfahan, 29,615 in Khuzestan, 18,310 in Fars, 16,985 in Gilan, 14,318 in Alborz, 13,127 in Kerman, 8908 in Markazi (Central), 8063 in Yazd, and 6175 in Ardabil. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Wednesday as 52 deaths and 2651 new cases. Furthermore, 3004 patients are in ICUs and 388 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“In many areas health protocols are being neglected and this can pave the path for new peaks. Re-opening schools needs to be postponed and/or protocols be completely respected,” said the secretary of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“Two thousand students contracted coronavirus in the span of one month,” said the governor of Tehran province on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRNA news agency.

“The country’s average is 1.8 nurses and this ratio in Gilan province drops to 1, meaning we have a significant shortage in the number of nurses. 98 percent of the nursing society are unhappy with the payment apparatus. Nurses enjoy a very small percentage of hospitals’ revenues,” said the nursing director of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“During the past 24 hours the daily Covid-19 death increased by five-fold and the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients by 26.4 percent,” said the deputy dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“There are currently 503 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 141 are in ICUs and 35 are under ventilators,” according to a report wired by the regime’s official IRIB news agency on Wednesday regarding West Azerbaijan province.

“With 91 new patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, we currently have 693 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 103 are in ICUs,” according to a report released Wednesday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars Medical Sciences University.
