Considering the critical situation of Iran’s nurses and following recent protests along with the number of nurses leaving the country increasing by 100-fold, regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei held a meeting with a handpicked crowd of supposed nurses. Concerned about escalating protests, Khamenei attempted to blame others for the nurses’ ongoing calamities.

“One of their demands is to place tariffs on nursing services. I said this last year and emphasized the fact. Unfortunately, until the final days of the previous governments, they had not written the rules and regulations, meaning nearly 14 years… At times in previous years, we had seen some measures. There were calls placed for people who are ready to come and start working. They signed short-term agreements with them. Then when their needs were finalized, they said you can go. There is no job security here!… Job security is one of the different issues. They shouldn’t treat nurses as seasonal workers!” Khamenei said in his remarks on Sunday.

“If students are to take part in schools, issues such as proper ventilation, using masks, and … If these protocols are neglected, we will witness a spread in the virus,” said the Secretary of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Ever since schools were reopened, we have had 16 students in [Bushehr] province contract coronavirus. Five of these students had received two vaccine doses,” said the deputy dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the state-run Asr-e Iran daily.

“With 100 new patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, we currently have 739 patients hospitalized, of which 109 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Sunday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.

“Currently the cities of Bafgh and Bahabad are registered as orange zones and other cities of [Yazd] province are registered as yellow zones,” said the spokesperson of Yazd Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.
