Iran coronavirus update: Over 483,600 deaths, experts warn of omicron and rising stats

Over 483,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Wednesday afternoon local time, December 1. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 129,912, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 113,275 in Tehran, 39,330 in Razavi Khorasan, 33,180 in Isfahan, 18,040 in Fars, 16,688 in East Azerbarijan, 16,035 in Lorestan, 13,400 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 9004 in Kermanshah, 8983 in Hamedan, 8818 in Markazi (Central), 6143 in North Khorasan, 4201 in South Khorasan, and 3604 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Wednesday as 82 deaths and 4312 new cases. Furthermore, 3328 patients are in ICUs and 660 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“With the current trend, if the omicron variant begins to spread, we will be witnessing dark coronavirus days in Mazandaran province. If this variant enters the country, we will be facing difficulties in managing and confronting this new issue,” said the deputy governor of Mazandaran province on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“With 127 new coronavirus patients in the past 24 hours the total number of patients hospitalized stands at 1049, of which 142 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.

“During the past 24 hours 371 patients have been hospitalized for coronavirus and 161 are in ICUs. Furthermore, 29 patients are under ventilators,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.

“The numbers of people seeking initial medical care and those who have contracted coronavirus in the city of Mashhad and other covered areas are high. Each day 1000 people are seeking medical care in centers associated with Covid-19,” according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University regarding Razavi Khorasan province.

“We are currently witnessing an increasing trend of this virus in [Golestan] province and the number of patients hospitalized has increased,” said the dean of Golestan Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence & Security (MOIS).
