Iran coronavirus update: Over 483,200 deaths, no actions seen despite new omicron variant

Over 483,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, November 29. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 129,711, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 113,185 in Tehran, 39,300 in Razavi Khorasan, 33,150 in Isfahan, 29,360 in Khuzestan, 18,153 in West Azerbaijan, 18,005 in Fars, 16,815 in Gilan, 14,183 in Alborz, 12,962 in Kerman, 7948 in Yazd, 7907 in Kurdistan, 6400 in Semnan, 6080 in Ardabil, 5579 in Qazvin, 5394 in Bushehr, and 3720 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Tuesday as 119 deaths and 4253 new cases. Furthermore, 3334 patients are in ICUs and 801 of the new cases have been hospitalized.

“During the past 24 hours, 294 people in [West Azerbaijan] province contracted coronavirus. We currently have 636 patients hospitalized, of which 162 are in ICUs and 32 are under ventilators,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University.

“During the past 24 hours the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases have jumped 30 percent and the number of dire cases under ventilators up 11 percent,” said the deputy dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“The unstable coronavirus circumstances continue as we speak and 184 patients are receiving care in hospitals, of which 44 are in ICUs,” said the dean of Ardabil Medical Sciences University on Tuesday according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“With 146 new coronavirus patients in the past 24 hours, the total number of patients hospitalized stands at 1103, of which 139 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Shiraz Medical Sciences University regarding Fars province.

“Until the Omicron variant has yet to spread across the country, we need to impose restrictions as soon as possible. However, there are currently no restrictions and people, like two years ago, have been left to be. The Health Ministry and National Covid-19 Task Force have yet to take any action to reevaluate their decisions on imposing restrictions,” according to a piece published on Tuesday in the state-run Jahane San’at website.
