Jan. 18, 2019 – The Poland Conference, scheduled for February 13-14, plans to be a gathering of top diplomats from dozens of countries seeking to discuss how to further confront the Iranian regime’s terrorism and warmongering. With more than three weeks remaining to the event, the Iranian regime is already gravely concerned over the consequences of such an international event.
Iranian regime Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghassemi went the distance to evade questions from reporters over Tehran’s position vis-à-vis Warsaw and other capitals intending to participate in the unprecedented event.
“I am asking your permission to refrain from making any remarks… we are in contacts and finally after we finalize what we need we hope to talk more about this in the near future.”
The politicians close to Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei believe the mullahs’ should be firm in the face of all conference participants.
“Our diplomatic apparatus must adopt a proper and firm position regarding the anti-Iranian session in Poland… The more we take steps back in the political world and have soft positions, the more our adversaries will demand. In appropriate times we must have firm responses,” said Mojtaba Zolnour, head of the Iranian regime Majlis (parliament) Nuclear Committee. However, his following remarks struck a contradictory tone. “For the time being, the Islamic Republic has decided to continue talks with the Europeans and take steps forward to maybe see if anything happens with the ‘special purpose vehicle.’ However, this doesn’t mean we are relying on them.”
Other Iranian regime officials are expressing grave concerns over the conference, saying the event should be taken quite seriously and a moderate tone should be adopted to have the wave pass without causing too much damage.
“[The Iranian regime] is isolated in today’s world, not only due to the fact that others oppose or not agree with our measures. The reason is that all parties consider their relations with the United States more serious, far more important and necessary. Therefore, they are concerned over their relations with the U.S. suffering due to their ties with Iran,” said former Majlis member Fereidoon Majlesi to the EuroNews website.
Jalal Khoshchehre, known as a regime insider, is also voicing escalating concerns.
“In addition to increasing economic pressures, the Trump administration is now focusing on two other solutions more than ever before: regional isolation and taking action to establish a global front against Iran,” he explained in an interview with the state-run E’temad daily.
The West’s appeasement policy, providing much needed life support for the Iranian regime coming to a failure, has failed and making life all the more difficult for the mullahs’ regime. This is adding insult to injury for the mullahs as increasing protests continue to escalate across the country.
Tehran now understands a firm international coalition is shaping against its terrorist meddling and warmongering across the region. The coalition is working toward making certain that the Iranian regime is no longer an influential and destabilizing force to bring an end to its malign activities.
The advancing of this policy will have grave consequences for the mullahs’ regime. Khamenei considers such a development as retreating from the region, described the “strategic depth.”
Senior Iranian regime officials are aware that during the past four decades many countries in the Middle East and Europe have been targets of their terrorist meddling. And a large number of these countries will be participating in the Warsaw conference and will very possibly voice strong policies against the regime’s warmongering and support for terrorism.
Tehran’s mullahs understand that the result of this conference is further international isolation and increasing pressures, such as sanctions. The European Union has recently sanctioned a department of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and recent trends show more will come, especially if the mullahs’ continue their terrorism in the Green Continent.
“If Washington is able to obtain relative victories from the February session, it will most definitely be a medium for future anti-Iranian action. Therefore, Tehran and especially our foreign policy apparatus should carry out very careful measures… the situation may become far more difficult in the future for Tehran… and they can create grave concerns for us through global consensus,” said former Iranian regime diplomat Ali Khorram, according to the state-run Iranian Diplomacy website.
As a result, the Iranian regime cannot remain silent in regards to this conference and will be showing growing concerns.
Domestic conditions are becoming all the more tumultuous for the regime. Officials are using the terms “internal disintegration,” “people’s distrust,” “foreign ambiguity” and “dis organization” and …
One needs to add daily protests and the nationwide uprising to the regime’s long list of dilemmas. This has left Khamenei with no choice but to warn his forces of further uprisings and protests in 2019, with support for the people from the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
