The spirit behind Iran’s protests

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 9, 2018 – In 1979 the Iranian people rose against and overthrew the Shah’s dictatorship. Back then very few speculated the status quo would allow the new regime in power to give birth to a new form of an even harsher dictatorship.

The Shah imposed his rule based on a security apparatus consisting of his police, the SAVAK (intelligence service) and the army.

The mullahs’ regime, however, in addition to the above-mentioned, has established the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and Basij paramilitary units to specifically defend the ruling regime.

Interesting is how many people and analysts across the globe believed this regime’s overthrow is out of reach, falling for the mullahs’ propaganda machine. During this period no organization other than the PMOI/MEK called for a continued drive to overthrow this regime. As the mullahs consider them today, the PMOI/MEK was viewed as the main enemy of the Shah’s rule during his reign in power.

For many years the PMOI/MEK withstood enormous pressures imposed by the mullahs’ regime, arguing Iran is a powder keg ready to explode. All parties believed the PMOI/MEK was in hallucinations or wishful thinking until December 28, 2017.

On this day the world witnessed the Iranian people revolt in such jaw-dropping manner, beginning in the northeastern city of Mashhad and spreading like a forest fire to other cities across Iran.

More shocking to the world were remarks made by Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei after 13 days of silence, saying the uprising was plotted and led by the PMOI/MEK.

Iran’s security apparatus, police, classic army, the IRGC and the Basij do not have the necessary will to stand in the face of the Iranian people’s growing anger and increasing temptation to uproot and completely overthrow the mullahs’ regime in its entirety.

There is quite a significant amount of information indicating the mullahs’ regime is engulfed in corruption, with all senior officials and IRGC commanders involved deeply in endless cases of embezzlement, theft and plundering the Iranian people’s wealth.

On the other hand, the revolting Iranian nation is now linked to the organization leading the current protests, providing an insurmountable source of courage and spirit.

Protesters are chanting:

“Death to Khamenei”

“Death to the dictator”

“Our enemy is right here, they lie and say its America”

This spirit and this uprising force is rooted in the opposition and alternative that has for years stood in the face of Iran’s mullahs.

Today, the world is witnessing the results in the mullahs’ regime engulfed in insurmountable crises.
