The Revolutionary Guards are doing nothing to help Iranian flood victims

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 4, 2019 – In the early hours of the floods in Shiraz, people witnessed the arrival of the Iranian regime’s military and attack armored vehicles such as Russian-made BMP-1 to the area. Not long after that, came the presence of anti-riot motorcycle forces hovering around the city and allies at nights.

To understand this phenomenon, one should ask the role and nature of the presence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in flood-stricken areas.

Military forces around the world are equipped with large and powerful trucks and heavy machinery that can easily and massively be used in such cases as in floods. But why didn't the Iranian regime use these types of equipment to help the flood victims?

Militaries are also equipped with helicopters that are capable of transferring relief or flood victims from one point to another. But again, there were no signs of such equipment helping out the victims of Iran's floods.

Iran is equipped with fast and powerful boats for carrying people and loads that are excellent to move flood victims and relief to flood-stricken areas. The regime uses such boats during its sea exercises or to intimidate and harass US ships in the Persian Gulf. But again, where were these boats when the people needed them the most and why did the people have to use their own fishing boats to salvage their livelihoods and help their neighbors?

Sandbags are tools that due to their functions and usages in building bunkers, are available en mass to militaries. But why was there not a single military sandbag in flood areas to be used for erecting floodgates?

Any military has field paramedics and hospitals. The Revolutionary Guards also has this capability, but one would wonder why IRGC didn’t use it to save the flood victims? And other than a few planned and edited videos in which regime officials pretend they are doing something, not a single social media network showed the presence of IRGC medics working to relieve the suffering of the victims?

The IRGC has numerous engineering units that are able to build floating bridges and roads in a short time. But truly why these units were not dispatched to any of the flood-stricken areas?

Yes, these and many other questions reveal the fact that the IRGC is the very source of the environmental catastrophe and assumes no responsibility to help the people. IRGC forces have only one assignment, and that is to enforce domestic repression and export of terrorism and chaos outside the country.

No wonder that the regime is fragile and shaky against the explosive wrath of society. The regime's supreme leader Ali Khamenei and its president Hassan Rouhani know better than anyone that the society is on the verge of another revolt.
