Iran, June 16, 2019 - Regarding the Iranian regime's attacks on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman and the launch of rockets against the Abha airport in Saudi Arabia, Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said, "These measures prove once again that the mullahs' regime can only continue its survival through repression of the people, and the export of terrorism and warmongering abroad."
Mohaddessin stressed, "The fact that the explosion of the ships happened at the same time as [Iranian regime supreme leader Ali] Khamenei's meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister and only two days after the meeting of [regime president Hassan] Rouhani's Foreign Minister with the German FM shows that diplomatic interactions with this medieval regime not only yield no results, but will provoke the regime to further pursue it terrorist and criminal goals."
Mohaddessin also underlined that the Iranian regime only responds to the language of force and firm policies.
Tehran has denied its involvement in the attack, arguing that it would not be a logical move to do so in tandem with the Japanese PM's trip to Iran. In this regard, Mohaddessin said, "This is a ridiculous excuse by the mullahs. This is the same regime that wanted to bomb the major rally of the Iranian opposition in Paris [in 2018] while its president was in the middle of a trip to Switzerland and Austria."
Mohaddessin said, "The regime's attack on civilian ships and its warmongering once again prove that the only way to achieve peace and security in the Middle East is for the people of Iran and their Resistance to overthrow the regime and to establish freedom and democracy. Anything less will only deepen and lengthen crises and conflicts in the region."
