Next step: Recognizing the NCRI as Iran’s alternative

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

August 8, 2018 – As discussions about sanctioning the Iranian regime continues and European countries and companies continue to weigh their options, a recently foiled terror plot in the heart of the Green Continent should provide something to think about.

The Iranian opposition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) rally in Paris was the target of an Iranian regime-blueprinted bomb plot, leading to the shocking arrest of Iranian “diplomat” who personally delivered the bomb to the operating team, according to European security services surveilling his moves.

As the United States is putting aside the failed Iran appeasement policy, Europe is encouraged to follow in such foot-steps. It is high time to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Iranian people as they continue protests across the country.

The NCRI’s June 30th rally once again reminded the international community of how there is a viable alternative to the mullahs’ regime struggling to realize democratic regime change for nearly 40 years.

Hundreds of high-profile international figures from across the globe attended the rally, including former prime ministers, foreign ministers, diplomats, ambassadors, members of parliament and an astronomical list of notable dignitaries from the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa were on hand to support the democratic alternative to the mullahs’ terrorist state.

The NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi delivered the keynote speech at the massive rally.

“The flames of the protests cannot be extinguished, and they will continue to soar without respite, indicating a constantly expanding and deepening uprising,” she said.

“Everyone senses the explosive state of Iranian society. The mullahs can offer no solution and are neither willing nor able to resolve the problems. The Velayat-e faqih (absolute clerical rule) lacks all legitimacy.”

Mrs. Rajavi went on to offer an alternative in the form of the parliament-in-exile NCRI:

“We call for the establishment of a society based on freedom, democracy, and equality, which has clear demarcation lines against despotism and dependence as well as gender, ethnic and class discrimination. We have defended and will continue to defend gender equality, the right to freely choose one’s attire, separation of religion and state, autonomy of nationalities, equal political and social rights for all citizens of Iran, abolition of the death penalty, freedom of expression, parties, the media, assembly, unions, associations, councils and syndicates.”

It is time for the international community to face the undeniable facts. The Iranian people are uprising to overthrow the decaying mullahs’ regime. In parallel fashion, the alternative to the mullahs is becoming stronger by the day.

Democratic regime change through the NCRI and MEK grassroots movement is the only realistic and available solution to the Iranian crisis. The first step in such a direction is recognizing the NCRI and Mrs. Rajavi as the democratic alternative to the mullahs.
