Pressure mounts on Boroujerdi for a televised interview

NCRI, 12 September 2010 – A prisoner of conscience in Iran has been insulted and pressured by Evin Prison guards after he protested against the lack of basic resources and trampling of prisoner rights, “Human Rights and Democracy Advocates” reported on Wednesday.
Mr. Hossein Boroujerdi has been questioned about sending news outside prison and pressured to give a televised interview to condemn the US.
In response, Mr. Boroujerdi has reportedly said the following, “I am not involved in politics. I’m only advocating the separation of church and state and that is why I have been imprisoned and tortured for years. In Iran, the mullahs and regime officials commit crimes not the US. You [the regime] want to kill all prisoners of conscience. If reports do not leak out of prison then we will all be killed. The inhumane acts of the establishment have caused an international backlash.”
Mr. Boroujerdi’s health has reportedly deteriorated with his heart problems becoming more acute.
This is not the first time Mr. Boroujerdi has been placed under pressure. Videos have been posted on YouTube reporting some of the pressures on Mr. Boroujerdi in 2008.
