Iraq Vice President: Many Iraqi leaders are angered by Iranian regime’s meddling

In an interview with Al-Jazeera TV, Iraq Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi revealed examples of the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and said: Many Iraqi leaders are angered by these interventions.
When asked what has the Iraqiya delegation heard in this regard during its visit from Iran, he said: The Iranian regime is still speaking the ‘Shiite and Sunni’ language and not the language of the winning faction of the elections and especially not the Iraqiya bloc… meaning the Iranian regime is looking to have Iraq’s next prime minister be from one of the two Shiite blocs. Yet we are hearing very good remarks behind closed doors and many of these leaders are angered by these interventions.
If anyone is set to disregard Iraqiya’s right as the winning bloc and being the entitled faction to form government, the next government will be illegal, al-Hashemi added.
Iraq’s Vice President went on to say: In these days, some are protesting Ayad Allawi becoming prime minister and some protest Tareq al-Hashemi becoming the president. Unfortunately, we heard these remarks coming from the New Year’s conference held in Tehran.
Al-Hashemi added: Of course, I have to add that Iraqiya’s current status is far higher than its electoral and legal rights. This is due to the presence of leaders in this movement that can fulfill the changes we all have been waiting for.
