Iran: Ukranian sportswomen refused to wear Hijab for Tehran match

NCRI WOMEN COMMITTEE, 16 April 2018– The national women’s football team of Ukraine who has traveled to Iran to play a friendly game with their counterparts refused to wear the veil and cover their heads during the match. 

The state-run news outlets reported on April 15, 2018, of problems existing on the sidelines of Iran-Ukraine women’s futsal match in Tehran.

The games have been scheduled for April 15 and 17. According to the Football Federation, women can attend the game as spectators and reporters but no one –except the public relations department of the Football Federation– is allowed to shoot films.

Ukrainian sportswomen have refused to wear the veil during the game. (The state-run Saat24.com, April 15, 2018)
