Iran: Golrokh Iraee’s condition alarming after 71 days of Hunger Strike

NCRI WOMEN COMMITTEE, 16 April 2018— Prominant political prisoner Golrokh Iraee is in dire health conditions after 71 days of hunger strike.

Ms. Iraee has been told by prison officials that her demand will not be granted, even if she dies. She is presently hospitalized in the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Baghyatollah Hospital and her health condition are said to be alarming.

Ms. Iraee has lost more than 22 kilograms. She has refused to accept IV injections and for this reason, her blood pressure is very low.

In meeting with her family, Ms. Iraee had persisted that she would not break her hunger strike.

Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraee and Atena Daemi were brutalized and sent to exile to the notorious Qarchak Prison on January 24, 2018. They went on hunger strike on February 3, 2018, demanding to be returned to the Women’s Ward of the Evin Prison.
