WASHINGTON, Reuters, APRIL 3, 2018— – The U.S. fight against Islamic State in Syria is not yet over and “we are going to complete that mission,” a top U.S. State Department official said on Tuesday, even as U.S. President Donald Trump spoke separately about an early exit from the war.
“We are in Syria to fight ISIS. That is our mission and our mission isn’t over and we are going to complete that mission,” Brett McGurk, the special U.S. envoy for the global coalition against Islamic State, told a forum in Washington.
