Iran: Chairman of the security committee in the Iranian parliament: Telegram will be filtered untill April 20th

Iran, March 31, 2018 -“Telegram messaging service will be filtered out until April 20, 2018”, announced Alaeddin Borujerdi, chairman of the security committee in the Iranian parliament on Saturday, March 31, 2018. “This decision has been made at the highest government level”, he added.
Borujerdi was quoted by the ILNA official news agency, as claiming that Telegram Messenger will be replaced by a similar domestic application, and when Telegram is taken out of the loop, the people will embrace the Iranian app.
Abdulkarim Hosseinzadeh, a member of the Iranian parliament, admitted on March 27, 2018: “It is a bitter truth that people have absolutely no trust in domestic messaging apps. We completely filtered out Telegram during the December unrests and reduced internet speeds to the lowest possible level. Didn’t people use anti-filtering apps during these demonstrations, when Telegram was filtered out?
