Syria Civil Defense documents Ghouta death toll

Orient Net, March 28, 2018— 1433 civilians were killed in regime’s military offensive on towns and cities of eastern Ghouta, backed by Russian air force, according to statistics published by Syria Civil Defense in Rural Damascus.

According to Syria Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, 223 women and 291 children were among the killed in regime month-long assault, from February 19 until March 23.

The statistics referred that 12 White Helmets volunteers were killed, while performing their duty of rescuing victims after shelling.

During the assault, Assad regime and Russian aircraft used different types of weapons including 8070 artillery missiles, 1615 surface-to-surface missiles, and 5636 rockets, the statistics added.

Syria Civil Defense also confirmed that Assad regime militias targeted Ghouta’s residential areas with incendiary munitions, for more than 506 times, and with toxic gases for 10 times, during the last few days of the assault.
