Iran: Protest and Strike in Hamedan, Rezwanshahr, Rasht and Kerman

Iran, March 11, 2018 – Hamadan city in the Midwest part of Iran, was the scene of the protest of municipality workers on Saturday, March 10, 2018. The workers strike was in protest to their unpaid salaries and depriving them of the right to have insurance.

In Rasht, Northern Iran, workers of Iran Poplin Company held a gathering in protest to their three-month overdue wages in addition to the company’s denial to pay them the bonus for the Persian calendar new year.

 

 

 

The central province of Kerman also witnessed a worker’s protest. The workers of Safaroud Dam in the city of Rezwanshahr protested against the government’s rejection of paying months of their overdue wages. While the workers have protested for the umpteenth time, the officials threatened to fire them from the job. The Safarood Dam Project Contractor is Khatam al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter, which is an Iranian engineering firm controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In addition to the Safaroud Dam workers, the hardworking laborers of Pabdana Coal Mine in Kerman began their strike. In a protest gathering, they demanded their overdue salaries withheld for months.
