World is silent as Houthis continue targeting Saudi Arabia with Iranian missiles

Riyadh, Al Riyadh Daily, January 21, 2018 – The international community remains silent to Iran’s dangerous games in the region. It is ignoring Iran’s blatant interference in Yemen, and continued support for the Houthis by supplying them with sophisticated weapons, including ballistic missiles that are being used against Saudi Arabia, which is leading the mission to restore the legitimate government in Yemen.
The Houthis’ plan to target populated Saudi cities is continuing without any respite. The latest of these attacks was on Saturday when the Houthis fired a missile from Yemen’s Saada Province. It was intercepted over Najran.

According to political analysts, Iran has gone crossed all the red lines in its mission to smuggle modern weapons to the Houthi militant group. This is in clear defiance of UN Resolution 2216 and Resolution 2231, and undermines the security of Saudi Arabia, the region and the world.
The firing of ballistic missiles at populated towns and villages is a clear violation of international law. Analysts warn that Iran is testing the reaction of the world. If it senses indifference on part of the international community, it will continue with its nefarious strategy of meddling in others’ affairs without fear of any consequences. They stressed the need for a firm international stand to hold Iran accountable for its crimes and actions today itself.
The US has already called for the formation of an international coalition to counter Iran’s destructive behavior. Washington has presented strong and compelling evidence of Tehran supplying the Houthi militias with ballistic missiles. The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that the evidence provided by the US leaves no doubt about Iran’s blatant disregard for its obligations under the United Nations charter.
Iran has conveniently misinterpreted the nuclear deal, which is evident from its regular violations of international resolutions and its unlimited support for its pawns in the Middle East.
Despite calls by Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the US to hold Iran accountable for violating UN resolutions, the international community has remained silent, as if it has nothing to do with it. Such an indifferent attitude would only encourage Iran to spread its hegemony over the region and move freely to threaten the security of the region and the world.
Saturday’s rocket is the third the Houthis have launched into Saudi Arabia in the past few days. The spokesman of the Coalition to Restore legitimacy in Yemen Col. Turki Al-Malaki said last December that the number of rockets launched by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia since 2015 had reached 83.He pointed out that the continued firing of rockets is a dangerous escalation of the war caused by the Houthi militias, and was proving time and again that they are being smuggled in through corridors meant to bring in humanitarian aid.
