Al Arabiya, 12 September 2017 - NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured images of a powerful solar class X flare.

Harmful radiation from a flare cannot pass through Earth's atmosphere and affect humans but they can disturb the atmosphere where GPS and communications signals travel.

X-class denotes the most intense flares, according to NASA.
