Iran: Appointment of Pourmohammadi, member of the death committee, as advisor to the head of the judiciary

The Head henchman, Mostafa Pourmohammadi, a death-committee member in the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in Iran in 1988, and Minister of Justice in the first cabinet of president Rouhani, was appointed to the deputy head of the judiciary on the order of Supreme Leader, Khamenei. Following widespread revelations of Pourmohammadi’s atrocities inside and outside Iran, Rouhani replaced him with another henchman, Alireza Avaei, one of the members of the death committee in Khouzestan province. First Deputy of Judiciary Mullah Mohseni Eje’I, described Pourmohammadi, the brutal executioner of the regime, as “a competent manager and servant” in his introduction.
Mohseni Eje’i described the importance of the ministry and the minister of justice: “This is the only minister in which all three powers are involved.” This is while that in addition to Pourmohammadi and Avaei, former Justice Ministers such as Morteza Bakhtiari and Esmail Shoushtari were also among the perpetrators of 1988 massacre. This shows that the regime, especially its judiciary, is mired in the execution and massacre of political prisoners. Massacre of 1988 is the common thread of all of the regime’s factions and key positions in this regime are held by those who either have been involved in this massacre or strongly defend it. In a word, the clerical regime is nothing more than a genocidal regime.
Mohseni Ejei is himself a blood-thirsty henchman who has been involved in various executions and torture of prisoners over the past 38 years in various positions such as the prosecutor, the judiciary’s representative at the Ministry of Intelligence, the Minister of Intelliegence, the First Deputy of the Judiciary and …. He was one of the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre, assassinations abroad, chain murders and one of the authorities involved in bloody crackdown of 2009 popular uprising. Eje’i was placed on the US sanctions list on September 30, 2010 due to serious human rights violations and on the EU sanctions list on April 13, 2011.
