Video; Assad warplane downed, pilot captured in Syrian Badia

Orient Net, August,  16, 2017— Opposition fighters downed on Tuesday (August 15) an Assad warplane in the Syrian Badia (the Syrian Desert) after targeting it with land missiles, Orient Net learnt from special sources.

Translation from Arabic of what is said in the video:

A commander of the Free Syrian Army who has captured the Syrian regime pilot after the plane had bombed their area can be heard on the background of the video.
The commander is saying that we are from the Free Syrian Army and we observe the rules of engagement in the war. We are not going to heart the pilot as some of these terrorist groups do with their captives. We have targeted the plane after it had bombed our positions 4 times. Our goal is to overthrow the Bashar Assad regime and will we not abuse the rights of our prisoners. The pilot, which is a major in the Syrian Army will be transferred to a safe place and will receive medical treatment.

Photos of the Assad pilot captured by opposition fighters of what locally-known as Jaysh al-Ashaer were posted on Facebook where the pilot appeared with bruises and swollen marks on face after baling out, in an attempt to escape.

Opposition Assoud al-Sherqeya said its fighters downed an Assad Sukhoi Su-21 warplane in Mahmood Valley of Sweida eastern countryside during the clashes of the announced Land is Ours battle, the group said in a Facebook post.
