Board Member of the Christian Democrat Faction in German Bundestag Supports Iranian Gathering in Paris

IRAN, 27 June 2017 — Leo Dautzenberg, former board member of the Christian democrat faction of Germany’s Bundestag, in a video message announced his support for the grand gathering of Iranian Resistance on July 1 in Paris.

Mr. Dautzenberg said in his video message:

On Saturday July 1st, 2017, tens of thousands of members, friends and supporters of the Iranian democratic opposition from across the world will gather in Paris.

As a member of the German Committee in Solidarity with a Free Iran and also an old friend of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and a friend of Ashraf residents, I am happy to participate in this gathering. Further, I would like to express honor and respect for the grand price that has been so far paid with sacrifice by you dear friends of freedom and democracy in Iran.

A peaceful resistance will not be created spontaneously and by itself but requires commitment and devoted people. This commitment also guarantees the victory of peaceful resistance to a dictatorship that is under the name of religion.

The recent presidential election in Iran should not undermine our efforts for a free and democratic Iran. We should not remain silent at all because during Hassan Rouhani’s presidency there is a terrible human rights violation and executions continue to be carried out with political motives on a massive scale.

The new role of Iran regime in gaining power in the Near East creates a double threat to freedom, democracy, and rule of law in the region.

Together with your president, Maryam Rajavi, we are fighting for a free and democratic Iran. The members and friends of the National Council of Resistance of Iran stand for freedom and democracy, their principles protect all aspects of human rights, tolerance, equality between women and men, and the separation of religion from the state and the abolition of the death penalty.

For many years, the NCRI has tried in exile to advance the peaceful resistance and enforce these principles. In the future, too, we are committed to full support, and the gathering in Paris with participation of friends and supporters from all over the world is a documentary that shows we are on the right path for a free and democratic Iran.
