British police: Suspect package at Victoria Coach Station has now been cleared

( Reuters, AP & AFP), 23 May 2017 –  British police reopened London’s Victoria Coach Station and the surrounding streets on Tuesday after earlier closing the area due to a suspect package.


“The reported suspect package at Victoria Coach Station has now been cleared. Not suspicious. Thanks for your patience,” London’s Metropolitan Police said on Twitter.

The BBC reported, after finding a suspect package:”A suspect package is being checked out,” a Metropolitan police spokesman said.


Buckingham Palace Road and other streets in the area are closed, the BBC said.


The man behind a terror attack at a pop concert in Manchester late Monday died when he detonated his device, killing 22 others including children and injuring 59 people, police said. Children among 22 dead in Manchester terror attack.


Greater Manchester Police chief Ian Hopkins said the man had set off an “improvised explosive device” as the audience was leaving the concert by US pop star Ariana Grande.


British Prime Minister Theresa May and main opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn have said they are suspending their election campaigns “until further notice” on Tuesday after a suspected terror attack.


Labour leader Corbyn said he had spoken to Conservative leader May and they had agreed that all national campaigning ahead of the June 8 vote would be suspended, the Press Association news agency reported.
