Maryam Rajavi calls on the nation to act independently and dispatch aid to four Iranian provinces hit by flood storm

The ruling plunderers and embezzlers are directly responsible for the expansion of human and financial losses

The Iranian Resiastance’s President-elect Maryam Rajavi expressed her condolences to the families of victims killed in the disastrous flood hitting four provinces. She wished rapid recovery for the injured and called on the nation, particularly the courageous youths, to act independently and rush to the aid of those afflicted in the flood storm.

The flood has engulfed 17 cities in East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Zanjan provinces, leaving many dead and missing. In light of the fact that many cars got drowned with their passengers in Chenar village in Ajabshir, the number of casualties are estimated to be much greater.

Bodies of those killed in the flood are strewn across the public thoroughfares and there is no government assistance. Local residents are empty-handed in aiding the injured. The clerical regime is not only putting off sending relief to the flood victims but it also prevents public dissemination of reports on the disaster.

Mrs. Rajavi said: The ruling theocracy is responsible for the expansion of casualties and material losses.

The mullahs’ president, Hassan Rouhani, cancelled his visit to the area due to weather forecasts predicting heavy rain in these regions. However, the government did not warn the public or undertake any measures to handle the consequences of the disastrous flooding of the area.

The regime’s failure to attend to the condition of roads and remove the clogging of rain drains, and evacuate the residents of shaky houses on the banks of rivers are among the factors which increased the number of casualties, obstructed the roads, damaged the infrastructure and bridges, and destroyed people’s houses and farms.

The deputy Governor of East Azerbaijan brazenly blamed the general public for the damages inflicted.

The Iranian people’s wealth –instead of improving the people’s living standard and the infrastructure of cities and villages– is either spent on WMD projects and export of terrorism and extremism, or is plundered and deposited in the bank accounts of the regime’s leaders and officials.
