The US-led coalition warplanes continued targeting residential areas in the city of Raqqa. Sunday airstrikes caused significant damage in the civilians’ houses and destroyed bridges in al-Tabqa and in the west of Raqqa.
Two US-led coalition airstrikes were conducted on Sunday, destroying bridges in the villages of al-Abbareh, Sahlabiyeh , Mazraat al-Ansar and al-Kalteh.
On Friday, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the coalition conducted 20 airstrikes on the de-facto capital of ISIS, Raqqa. The attacks destroyed eleven oil tankers, three oil reservoirs, two tunnels and two rocket pads.
It is worthy to remind that the US-led coalition warplanes destroyed on Friday two main bridges in the city of al-Raqqa, aiming at isolating the city from its southern countryside, according to al-Raqqa is being silently slaughtered Facebook page.
SDF demand US heavy weaponry
The Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) demanded from the US to provide them with air cover and heavy weaponry, including tanks to enable them to take control of Raqqa.
The SDF received US armored vehicles for the first time and a promise of new American support, the group spokesman said Tuesday.
“US armored vehicles arrived for the SDF for the first time. This happened after the new US administration came to power,” spokesman Talal Sello told AFP.
The mainly Kurdish fighters are trying to progress towards the ISIS-controlled city of Raqqa and to the Euphrates Dam. They are only 5 km from the city.
The SDF announced on Saturday the start of phase III to capture Raqqa, the de-facto capital of the terrorist organization ISIS.
