Iran regime agents destroy religious minority cemetery

Dec. 1, 2016 – The mullahs’ regime in Iran destroyed and confiscated the lands of a Baha’i minority cemetery in South Khorasan Province, located in northeast Iran. The mortuary of this cemetery was destroyed on Tuesday, November 29th.
During the past month the regime agents had begun closing the perimeters and tighten the grounds of this cemetery. The agents had also banned any burials at the cemetery and finally completely destroyed the mortuary.
A wall has been erected in the middle of the cemetery and the graves. The building had been previously emptied and confiscated by regime entities.
Reports indicate Baha’is in the region have been told to empty the vicinity and their corpses must be transferred to the city of Bojnourd for burial. Villagers have been ordered to bury their dead in their villages and not transfer them to any towns or cities.
During the past few years, time and again cemeteries belonging to the Baha’i minority community have been destroyed by security forces and unknown individuals. These incidents have been repeated in many different provinces, preventing Baha’i citizens from burying their dead.
In the past month a Baha’i cemetery in Isfahan was destroyed by municipality agents and also unknown individuals. Prior to that other Baha’i cemeteries in the cities of Qarwe and Urmia were destroyed by security agents.
