Prison authorities prevent brilliant university student of urgent medical care

Omid Kokabi, 30, a graduate of Tehran’s Sharif Tech University studying for his PhD in nuclear physics in the University of Texas in the United States, was arrested on January 30, 2011 in Tehran’s Khomeini International Airport as he sought to leave the country.

His lawyer said Omid is suffering from cancer in prison and is in need of urgent medical care, or else he faces death. Despite all this, Prison authorities have barred this prisoner from receiving the necessary medical care he needs.
