Over 2,000 protest dam construction in southwest Iran

Over 2,000 locals of the Haftgol region in Khuzestan Province of southwest Iran held a rally on Thursday, March 24th, protesting dam construction in their area.
The construction of dams and tunnels have devastated the lives and farm lands of people in the Chahar Mahal & Bakhtiary and Isfahan regions, all for the sake of political auctions.
The protesters referred to Revolutionary Guards plans to rob their province of water and transferring them to their own untouched lands.
Such projects have decreased Iran’s Zagros jungles from 12 million to 5 million hectares. This must be taken seriously as the source of water for 50% of Iran’s chestnut trees are endangered.
